Beef Cannelloni

Ingredients

Tubes

  • Cannelloni tubes
  • 500g mince beef
  • 1/2 cup (56g) breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbs white wine
  • 1 onion
  • 2 tbs grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbs chopped parsely
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • Salt and pepper to season

Sauce

  • 2 tbs oil
  • 1 onion
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp basil
  • 240g tomato paste
  • 500mL water
  • 1/2 cup (50g) grated parmesan cheese

Method

Tubes

  1. Chop onion finely.
  2. Combine beef, breadcrumbs, white wine, onion, parmesan, egg, parsely, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper together in a large bowl.
  3. With clean hands, carefully fill each tube with the meat mixture.

Sauce

  1. Chop onion finely and add to hot saucepan with oil. Fry until tender.
  2. Add oregano, basil, tomato paste, and water. Bring to a boil.

Combine

  1. Preheat oven to 180oC.
  2. Put a small amount of sauce at the bottom of a casserole dish.
  3. Arrange tubes neatly in the dish without overlapping and top with the rest of the sauce.
  4. Cover the dish in aluminium foil and place in the oven for 35 minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and remove aluminium foil. Top with parmesan cheese and place in the oven for a further 10 minutes.
